More than electricity:
Growing to Serve Our Members
When many people think of Southeastern Indiana REMC, they think of electricity—and for good reason. Providing reliable electric service has been the foundation of our cooperative since the day it was formed. For generations, our mission has been to power homes, farms, and businesses across southeastern Indiana.

But today, Southeastern Indiana REMC is doing more than delivering electricity.

As the needs of our communities continue to evolve, so does your cooperative. Over the past several years, we have expanded our services to include high-speed fiber internet through SEI Fiber, helping bring reliable broadband connectivity to the same rural areas we have proudly served with electricity for decades.

This growth reflects the same cooperative spirit that built our electric system many years ago. When electric cooperatives were first created, investor-owned utilities often overlooked rural communities because the cost to serve them was too high. Local residents came together to form cooperatives like Southeastern Indiana REMC so their communities could have access to reliable power.

Today, we are facing a similar challenge with rural broadband. Many families, farms, schools, and businesses still struggle with slow or unreliable internet service. By building a fiber network alongside our electric infrastructure, we are helping ensure that our members have access to the connectivity they need for work, education, healthcare, and everyday life.

While our cooperative continues to grow, one thing remains the same: our commitment to the members we serve.
Our electric division remains focused on maintaining a strong, reliable power system—investing in infrastructure improvements, modern technology, and ongoing maintenance to keep the lights on for more than 28,000 members across our service territory.

At the same time, our fiber division is expanding access to high-speed internet, opening new opportunities for economic development, remote work, online learning, and improved quality of life throughout southeastern Indiana.

These two services—electric and fiber—work together to support the future of our communities. Reliable electricity powers our homes and businesses, while reliable broadband connects us to the world.

Southeastern Indiana REMC is proud to be part of both.

As your cooperative continues to grow, our focus remains simple: providing essential services that help our members and our communities thrive.

Because at Southeastern Indiana REMC, we’re not just powering homes—we’re connecting communities and building the future together.
