Supporting Our Communities Through Education, Outreach, and Service

At Southeastern Indiana REMC, serving our communities goes beyond providing reliable electric and fiber service. Throughout the year, our employees participate in local events and educational programs that help strengthen the communities we serve across southeastern Indiana.
SEI REMC hosted the first Co-op Kids Club meeting of the year on March 5 at the cooperative’s community room. Students gathered to learn the basics of electrical safety through interactive discussion and activities. The evening included coloring activities, hands-on learning, and time for students to connect with one another while exploring how electricity powers their homes.
On March 10, several SEI REMC employees volunteered at the SR Real World event, an interactive program designed to give junior high students a glimpse into real-life financial decision making. Students worked through simulated life scenarios that included budgeting for housing, transportation, groceries, and other everyday expenses. SEI REMC volunteers assisted with the electric and internet booths, helping students understand the role these essential services play in everyday life and how they fit into a household budget.
On Saturday, March 14, SEI REMC representatives participated in the Safety Open House hosted by the Brooksburg/Milton Township Volunteer Fire Department. The event gave community members an opportunity to learn more about safety from local organizations and first responders. SEI REMC hosted a booth featuring electrical safety information and handouts while employees answered questions from members who attended the event.
Throughout the month, our line crews were also busy responding to the spring storms that moved through southeastern Indiana. Lightning, strong winds, and severe weather caused multiple power outages across our service territory. SEI REMC line crews worked through challenging conditions to restore service safely and as quickly as possible for members.
Programs like these reflect the cooperative’s commitment to supporting education, safety awareness, and community engagement throughout the region. Whether participating in local events, helping students learn about real-world experiences, hosting youth programs, or restoring power during storms, SEI REMC employees are proud to serve the communities that make our cooperative strong.
