MAIN STREET DINER
A taste of home, history, and hospitality in Rising Sun

In the heart of Rising Sun, there’s a place where the past and present come together over a hot plate of breakfast, a fresh burger, or a juicy barbecue sandwich.
Step inside Main Street Diner, and you’ll immediately feel it—this isn’t just a place to eat. It’s a place filled with stories.
From the moment you walk through the door, the diner feels like a time capsule. The walls are lined with memorabilia, each piece telling a story of the people who have passed through and the history that matters most to the owner, Mike Sheroan.
Mike opened Main Street Diner on July 10, 2010, and in the years since, he’s built more than just a restaurant—he’s created a space where people feel welcome, connected, and right at home. In fact, since opening day, the diner hasn’t closed once.
A PLACE FULL OF STORIES
One of the first things you’ll notice is a large map of the United States, covered in push pins placed by visitors from across the country. It’s a simple but meaningful display—one that shows just how many people have found their way to this small-town diner.
Surrounding the map are slips of paper representing guests from around the world, adding an international touch to a place rooted deeply in local pride.
There’s also a strong sense of respect and honor throughout the diner. Military memorabilia lines the walls, reflecting Mike’s own service. He turned 21 while serving in Vietnam, and that experience remains an important part of his story.
Another map highlights Vietnam, where fellow veterans have placed their own markers—each one representing a shared connection and a moment in time that is not forgotten.

MADE FRESH, MADE LOCAL
While the atmosphere draws you in, it’s the food that keeps people coming back.
Main Street Diner is known for its breakfast, burgers, and barbecue—simple, satisfying meals made fresh to order. Mike takes pride in sourcing ingredients locally whenever possible, putting in the extra effort to ensure quality in every dish.
That commitment shows in the details. Each week, Mike makes a trip to a hen house in Kentucky to pick up 720 fresh eggs—just one example of the care that goes into every meal served.
On weekends, that dedication doesn’t go unnoticed. It’s not uncommon for guests to wait more than an hour to be seated, especially for breakfast. While the wait can test patience, Mike has found a lighthearted way to remind guests why they’re there—handing out pens that read “Worth the Wait.” And for many who have experienced the food and atmosphere, it truly is.
Nothing is rushed, and nothing is pre-made. It’s food done the right way.
A PLACE WORTH THE STOP
Main Street Diner isn’t just a place for great food—it’s a place where everyone feels welcome.
Families are a big part of the diner’s story. Kids are greeted with chalk by the front door, encouraged to draw on the sidewalk while they wait. It’s a small touch that adds to the welcoming, relaxed atmosphere.
Inside, there’s another tradition that keeps people smiling. Each week, Mike fills a bowl with candy bars and invites every guest to grab one before they leave—just one of the many ways he makes people feel at home.
For Mike, the diner is more than a restaurant—it’s something he and his family have built together with pride.
In a small town like Rising Sun, places like this matter. They bring people together, create lasting memories, and remind us of the value of good food and even better company.
Whether you’re stopping in for breakfast, lunch, or just to take in the stories on the walls, Main Street Diner is a place worth experiencing.
Because here, you’re not just getting a meal—you’re becoming part of the story.
