From the editor
July is often associated with celebration. Across southeastern Indiana, communities will gather for parades, county fairs, festivals, cookouts, fireworks, and family reunions. It’s a season filled with traditions that bring people together and remind us of the places we call home.

As I worked on this month’s issue of REMC Connect, I found myself thinking about what makes a community strong. While it’s easy to point to landmarks, businesses, schools, or local organizations, the true strength of a community comes from the people who invest their time, talents, and resources to make it better.

It’s the volunteer who coaches a youth sports team. The neighbor who checks on an elderly resident after a storm. The local business owner who sponsors a community event. The first responder who answers the call for help. The teacher who encourages a student. The member who rounds up their electric bill through Operation RoundUp® to support local causes.

Community isn’t built through grand gestures alone. More often, it’s built through small acts of kindness, service, and cooperation that happen every day.

In this month’s issue, we’re celebrating the power of community and the impact it has had throughout our cooperative’s history. You’ll read about the people and partnerships that have helped shape southeastern Indiana, learn how Operation RoundUp turns spare change into meaningful support for local organizations, and explore the ways Southeastern Indiana REMC continues to invest in the communities we serve.

You’ll also find stories and resources designed to help you enjoy the summer season safely and make the most of your time with family and friends.

As we celebrate Independence Day this month, I hope you’ll take a moment to appreciate not only the freedoms we enjoy, but also the connections we share with our neighbors and communities. Those connections are what make southeastern Indiana such a special place to live, work, and raise a family.

Thank you for reading REMC Connect. As always, we appreciate the opportunity to serve you and keep you connected to the people, programs, and stories that matter most.

Have a safe and enjoyable July!
